VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" will be a

theme explored during the Vacation Bible School

in August. This movie is more than just entertainment.

Author C. S. Lewis introduces concepts which can

increase faith and help us share the gospel with

unbelievers.

Some of the themes introduced are:

* Things are not right in the world and ( sin in the

world ) and things are not always right with us -

   (sin in us )

*The hope of a savior and the meaning of prophesy.

* How do we fight against things that are not right

in the world? ( through serving those in need and

   standing up for the week.)

Jesus sacrifice for us on the cross.

Dates for VBS are August 5-8 from 5:30 p. to 8:00 p.

We will begin with a light supper. On Friday, August 6,

participants will be invited to go swimming at the

high school pool at 10:00 a.  Ages for VBS are 3 year

olds through those completing 6th grade. We are going

to promote VBS in the community as an outreach for

youth. If you know of a child who would be interested

in attending, please sign them up in the church office.

Blood Pressure Clinic

On the third Sunday of each

month, after worship.

                                  Bear Ministry

The Bear Ministry has made a difference in to

many places--not just in St. James but all over.

Hospitals in Rochester, Minneapolis and one

even traveled as far as California. Please pick

one up out of the pew and send it to someone who

needs a little extra hug, a little extra love during

trying times in their lives. Or...you can even send

a bear to celebrate the birth of a baby, a new

career or a start in a new school...so many ways

     the bears make a difference.

And right now there seems to be a lot of our

members who have special needs due to

illnesses for themselves or for members of their

extended families. These people, whether they

are members of this church or not, can use a

little extra "hug" and that is made possible

     by our "Bear Ministry".

What can you do? You can "take or

send" them a Care Bear that you will find in

all the pews in the sanctuary. Every person

who has been the recipient of a bear has been

so grateful - it is amazing what just a little

"love" can do. And so each bear that has

to a "new home" has been a blessing.
